FNQ Panoramas

FNQ Panoramas are "real live" pictures/prints, in a dark stain wooden frame (picture size 20" x 8" or 500mm x 200mm), as depicted below. They are printed on fine German canvas photo paper and mounted without glass to spoil the texture. Instead of matting we build in a canvas smudge border which has the effect of "lifting" the contents of the panorama, to give a very lifelike "painted on" appearance. Furthermore, in December 2008, a new application was released which allows conversion of any photo to resemble an Oil Painting, and we are so pleased with the effect we now have fully converted our range of panoramas to "Oils".

All panoramas have been photographed in Far North Queensland, Australia - mostly around the Port Douglas and Daintree area.

New in 2010

Well that WAS the case but now we have Brokeback Postcards from a place 180 degrees removed on the other side of the world in Wyoming USA.

Just scroll down to pano viewer below, where "Brokeback Postcards" is the default.

And these look better in blue frames.

A Shopping Cart facility is provided under each pano.

Here is a sample, with a "blowup" to full print size, so you can see the brushwork and blending with the canvas background.

You can use the shopping cart to order panoramas, or email to - fnqpanoramas for product/sales information

A charming combination of sophisticated town and friendly village, Port Douglas is a popular departure point for day trips to the Great Barrier Reef, nearby World Heritage listed Daintree and Cape Tribulation National Parks and spectacular Mossman Gorge.

Before being put on the map by infamous real estate developer Christopher Skase in the late 80’s, Port Douglas was a quiet seaside town frequented by fisherman and locals from Cairns. Today, it’s an international mecca attracting heads of state, film stars and a host of holidaymakers from around Australia and the globe.

One of the reasons is the proximity and access to the Great Barrier Reef. From the Marina Mirage, a variety of reef trips leave daily. Reef operators travel daily to the Low Isles, Agincourt Reef and other renown sites like the Cod Hole near Lizard Island.

The World Heritage rainforests are within close proximity to Port Douglas. The lush green coastal strip of the Daintree/Cape Tribulation region to the north is home to some of the oldest forests in the world.

Like its spectacular surroundings, Port Douglas has something for everyone. Stroll among the village shops, galleries and historic buildings or browse in the seaside Sunday markets. Bring your clubs and play a round at the Mirage Country Club or at The Links. Admire the classic Queenslander architecture of the town’s pubs as you enjoy a quiet ale, and the easy glamour of the resorts with their friendly local staff.

Mossman

The mist topped mountains beyond Port Douglas cast a magic spell that lures visitors along the short scenic drive north to Mossman, a picturesque little township nestled at the foot of the mountains among the bright green fields of sugar cane. A friendly town, Mossman invites you to enjoy its genuine Tropical North Queensland hospitality as you explore the country stores and historic pubs along the wide tree-lined main street.

The region's sugar capital the Mossman Central Mill throbs and hums its way through the sugar cane crushing season (June – October) when it is possible to do guided tours of the entire process inside the mill. The quaint cane trains rattle back and forth through the town hauling in the harvest and out in the fields you might chance upon the breathtaking sight of a cane fire in full force.

Five minutes west of Mossman you will discover Mossman Gorge, a very accessible and scenic section of the World Heritage listed Daintree National Park. Here the Mossman River tumbles its way over and around huge granite boulders that line the gorge creating cool clear freshwater swimming holes. Awe inspiring tree-clad mountains rise sharply up from the river banks. Walk as far as the suspension bridge across the river or explore the 2.7km rainforest loop trail.

The Gorge is home to the Kuku Yalanji people, the area's traditional Aboriginal landowners who strive to protect their natural heritage as they share its unique qualities with visitors. Guided bushwalks are available that give a rare insight into the special relationship the local indigenous people have with the rainforest, while traditional dance performances and artifact displays portray their rich cultural heritage.
