Other destinations According to the National Tourism Agency, the favourite places outside the important cities are The awesome Iguazú Falls, right in the north-east corner of the country. The Nahuel Huapi National Park, in patagonia in the foothills of the andes mountains and its main city San Carlos de Bariloche The beautiful Mar del Plata, world-wide called The Pearl of the Atlantic. El Calafate, the main destination when visiting the Glaciers National Park. The Perito Moreno Glacier, really a must when visiting Argentina. Many ski centers operate in the Andes during the winter; Las Leñas and San Carlos de Bariloche are particularly well-known. There are many nature preserves around Puerto Madryn and Peninsula Valdes where one can see wild penguins, sea lions, birds, and whales at certain times of the year.
